The April PNCBA meeting will focus on conifer styling. Bring any trees you want to have an opinion on - not just conifers.

Our next regular meeting will be held at Miller Park Community Center from 7:00 - 9:00 PM Monday, January 23. We will conducting a styling workshop. Come out and create a plan for one or more of your trees. If you are interested in the art of bonsai you can observe how some of our members make plans for styling their trees.

Once again this year we are collaborating with the Reynolda Gardens of Wake Forest University to sponsor this August’s visit by Arthur Joura, curator of the bonsai collection at the NC Arboretum in Asheville.
Please note that we are moving from Miller Park Center to Reynolda Garden (on Reynolda Road) for this event.

Our next regular monthly meeting will be held on July 25th at the Miller Park Community Center. We will be discussing raft style bonsai. Dan will have a demonstration using nursery stock working with the raft style.
We will also be preparing for the Bonsai Expo coming in October.

As always, if you have trees you need opinions about for styling, bring them in. Also in our monthly newsletter our own Dr. Dan Johnson discusses how to install an Automatic Micro-Irrigation System. Early Summer tree care items are also reviewed.

During our next meeting Anne will be air layering a cork bark maple. Bring in any trees you want to work on - especially if you would like some extra opinions.

* Dan will be demonstrating root grafting techniques (on live maples if available). Dan will be demonstrating
how to use grafting to improve the root spread (nebari) on maple trees.
* If you have trees you need opinions about for styling, bring them in. Now is a good time to make those decisions.
